At the Spanish Water Dog Club, we are delighted to be able to support our colleagues who run SWD Rescue in the UK.
Please see below for a round- up of activities that they will be hosting this summer, to raise funds:
Dogs Unleashed
Dogs Unleashed, run by Andrew Capille, is a large weekend event open to the public and their dogs, enabling them to try a variety of different canine activities and shop at the many trade stands. For many years it was held at Bakewell Showground but it has now expanded and is held twice a year at two different venues.
The hours are long, with only a short opportunity to see the show for yourself but every effort is made to ensure volunteer dogs get to swim at the beginning or end of the day when the public have gone home. As evening falls, the volunteers get together to share anecdotes of the day over a drink or two and enjoy catching up with old and new friends.
Volunteers are always welcome, please contact Robin Walker to find out more:
Whitfun Summerfun
Usually held over the Whitsun late May Bank Holiday, this year this popular event has moved to the August Bank Holiday weekend of 28th-30th August.
Kindly hosted by Joan Hubbard on one of her fields in Leicestershire, this event offers the opportunity to try a wide variety of activities with your dog(s), share experiences with other SWD owners, build on your relationship with your dog and meet friends old and new. A friendly and supportive environment allows you to choose your pace and learn new skills from the range of positive trainers in attendance.
The Crystal Maze Challenge on Saturday afternoon and the evening fun quiz encourage people to mix but the generous greenfield pitches ensure plenty of space for those who wish to have some down time. Not to be missed is the infamous SWD Rescue Raffle or the fun and informal dog show! This event is suitable for all ages and all breeds are welcome.
Booking forms are available on their Facebook group or more information is available from Kylee Noad on:
